Route of the Mazo de Meredo PR-AS 107
The route begins in Piantón, a charming village that was once the capital of the council, located about two kilometres from Vegadeo, where we recommend a stroll through the square and a visit to the church. We cross the Roman Bridge and take the path on the left towards Arcilo.
The trail begins with a slight ascent through a dense eucalyptus forest mixed with patches of native vegetation: chestnut trees, holly trees, laurel trees, etc., fed by numerous streams.
Once in Arcilo, we turn right and continue along the path to Cobre, where we find two options for reaching Meredo: a more direct 1.5 km path and another 3.5 km path that passes through El Foxo.
Once in the Meredo area, we take the path back to Arcilo, accompanied throughout the route by the River Suarón, which tirelessly flows into the Eo Estuary, notable for its important ecological and ornithological value. The route runs very close to the Sestelo mansion, an emblematic building in the region. On the way back to Piantón, we will have a good view of the valley, a very humanised landscape where we can see meadows, farmland, reforested areas, etc.
