Senda Verde de As Carballeiras PR-AS 167
The route, short and easily accessible, starts in Santalla and quickly enters a characteristic deciduous forest made up of oak, chestnut, birch and hazelnut trees. As we ascend, the forest opens up and gives way to scrubland - oaks, gorse, ferns and broom - from where we can enjoy wide views of the valley of the river Agüeira and the highest areas of the municipality.
On the descent towards Pumares, we cross meadows where it is common to see cows grazing with their calves. These fields are watered by the river Agüeira, which feeds a riverside forest with species such as alders, ashes, willows and hazelnut trees, rich in biodiversity. From Pumares, the return path follows the same tracks until a crossroads, from where you take the turning to the right to return to Santa Eulalia.
