Church of Santa Marina de Meredo

Church of Santa Marina de Meredo

Good example of 18th century rural religious architecture.

The parish church of Meredo is dedicated to Santa Marina, dating from 1798 (prior to its construction there was a chapel on the same spot). This temple summarises the main characteristics of rural religious architecture of the 18th century. Once it was inaugurated, Meredo became a parish church under the patronage of Santa Marina (her feast day is celebrated on 18th July, although traditionally, if that day does not coincide with a Sunday, the feast day is moved to the first Sunday following the aforementioned date).
