Hidden among the mountains and forests of western Asturias, the Cioyo Waterfall is one of those places that seem to be straight out of a fairy tale. A walk among trees, small waterfalls and landscapes that invite you to stop and breathe. At the end of the route, the great Cioyo waterfall makes its way through the rock, offering an image of wild beauty that is hard to forget.

Start and end of the route: From the car park, walk back about 4 or 5 metres and you will find the path that will lead you to the waterfall. A narrow path leads us to the lower waterfalls, but not for this reason of less beauty. The Cioyo waterfall, which is higher, can be reached by crossing the mountain.

It is advisable to take water, some warm clothes and shoes with good grip because of the steep slopes and the terrain.

As you approach the river, the vegetation changes: willows, mosses, lichens and ferns cover the rocks and the banks of the stream, creating a fairytale landscape. Before reaching the great Cioyo waterfall, the path passes by small waterfalls and crystal-clear pools, which are already a foretaste of the beauty of the final spot. Some of them are accessible and perfect for a rest with a view.

Along the route there are points where there are views of the valley, especially before the last descent to the waterfall. These are ideal places to take photos or just stop and contemplate.

The natural environment surrounding the waterfall offers quiet, shady spaces ideal for relaxing, having a snack or simply letting yourself be carried away by the sound of the water and the songs of the forest.

It is a perfect place to bring a small backpack with light food, a blanket and enjoy a simple and environmentally friendly picnic.
