Route A Seimeira PR-AS 116
The route begins in the recreational area of Pumares, from where you cross the road to take a path that runs parallel to the river. After reaching the village of Pumares, with vestiges of its past linked to the ferreira activity, such as the remains of an old mallet, you continue along a signposted path that climbs gently next to the river Agüeira, now on the walker's left.
The route enters a legendary forest, characterised by a rich riparian vegetation - alders, ash, willows and hazelnut trees - and by the presence of centenary oaks and chestnut trees, whose whimsical shapes look like authentic natural sculptures. A large part of the path runs between moss-covered stone walls and under a carpet of leaf litter that softens the path.
After passing through the Ancadeira area, with old abandoned buildings that reflect the history of the place, you reach the solitary and magical Valle del Desterrado (Valley of the Banished). From there, you can choose to continue straight on to the spectacular Seimeira, a waterfall some 30 metres high, or turn off towards the village of Busqueimado. In the latter, after a short ascent, you can visit the chapel dedicated to San Pedro, accompanied by two monumental yew trees. The return is along the same path.
