Los Molinos PR-22 Route

Los Molinos PR-22 Route

Walk among windmills, chestnut trees and traces of the past on a route that breathes history and nature.

The route begins in the upper part of the village of Bres along a wide dirt track that leads to the Guxo mill, which is in excellent condition and has a mini-power station nearby.

The route continues along a small path leaving the stream on the right hand side until we reach a wooden bridge that we must cross to begin the ascent through a chestnut grove until we reach Chao do Cobo, an area where it is common to find traces of wild boar. The path continues ascending through Cabaza until it reaches the Teixo, crossing meadows and small oak woods. From the top of the Teixo, on clear days, the views of the north of the council (Sela de Entorcisa, Sela de Fabal, etc) are unbeatable. The route passes through Brataramundi and after a steep descent you reach the Molino Viejo and the Molino de Nela, both of which are in a poor state of repair due to disuse. These water-powered mills were once used to grind corn, wheat, oats and rye, cereals used to feed people and animals. From this point we start a slight ascent along a pretty path with plenty of oak and blueberry trees on both sides, reaching a wider dirt track that descends to the starting point.
