Route dos Pañeiros PR-AS 297
This route follows an old section of the Way of St. James, which used to welcome pilgrims arriving along the Eo estuary. The route starts in El Llano and heads towards San Andrés. A few metres away is the Peto de Ánimas del Paxarelo, the starting point of a beautiful fluvial path next to the river Eo.
The path allows us to observe the riverside vegetation, dominated by alders, willows and ash trees, as well as to watch trout and salmon jumping in its clean waters. The route climbs gently up to San Andrés, a village where there was once an iron mine and which today has agricultural and livestock farms thanks to the fertility of the Eo valley.
In the final stretch, the slope increases slightly and the landscape changes into pine and oak woods, until it reaches the Prado hermitage. From there, the Way of St. James continues its route towards Galicia.
At the end of the route, the visitor can choose to return along the same path or descend from Prado to the river Eo, linking up with the Railway Route to return to San Tirso.
