A Coba Route PR-AS 153

Circular route from the village of Ferreira that combines traditional architecture, autochthonous forests and fluvial landscapes. It includes passing through...

The route begins in the picturesque village of Ferreira, one of the best preserved in the municipality, where visitors can enjoy the popular architecture while strolling along narrow paths shaded by centuries-old vines.

After crossing the village, the route climbs up towards Nonide, through forests of chestnut, oak and birch trees. Through small clearings there are spectacular views of the canyon of the river Agüeira, which flows swiftly towards its mouth in the river Navia. Leaving Nonide behind, a steep descent begins through a dense chestnut grove dotted with "cortines", circular stone constructions traditionally used to protect the beehives.

The path reaches the river Allonca, whose waters come from neighbouring Galicia and flow into the Agüeira, in the area known as "Ponte de A Coba", a perfect place for a refreshing swim. From there, the ascent begins towards La Coba and Coba, to then border the mountain between heather, gorse and broom, with stretches of native forest that accompany the last stretch until returning to Ferreira.

The route ends again in the tourist area of Ferreira, where it is possible to rest and enjoy activities such as canoeing, fishing or a well-deserved swim in the middle of nature.
