Camino de la Costa - Stage 13: A Veiga - Abres
Stage 13 of the Coastal Pilgrimage Route to Santiago de Compostela, which starts in Irún.
The Camino leaves the capital of the council after crossing the Monjardín River and climbs through the Ferreira neighbourhood. From here, it continues on a gentle slope until it reaches La Cruz, south of Miou.
Leaving the turnoff to Louteiro on the right, the route continues along the Camino Real de Bustelo, heading southwest. The route crosses the Louteiro stream at the As Cabanas ford and climbs up to the Sela de Murias hill, where several tracks converge. At this point, take the track on the right, which descends towards the Eo valley, continuing southwest.
The Camino then enters Santiago de Abres, passing through El Pividal, Rego do Casal and Casa de La Rúa. Traditionally, the Eo was crossed at Las Aceñas via the Ponte Vella, which no longer exists. Today, the crossing into Galicia is via the El Fornacho bridge.
