Water Route PR-17
Its fourteen kilometres allow us to enjoy the water and its use for centuries in rural areas in just over four hours. From the lower part of Taramundi we take a path that takes us to Mazonovo, where we can visit the Museo de los Molinos.
Continuing on, and after a short climb, we can see the Caserío de la Granda, from where we descend towards the bottom of the valley, entering a dense native forest of chestnut and alder trees. Here we can choose to approach a waterfall, returning to the main path until we reach the village of Esquios, where we can visit a collection of tools and implements. In Esquios there are two alternatives: to continue straight on until we reach Veigas, or to take a path on the left that crosses the river Turía and goes to Teixois. The Esquios-Veigas path runs through an extensive mass of chestnut trees in some areas mixed with oak and birch trees. Veigas, a fairytale village, is an example of well-preserved architecture, from which, taking the old road along the right slope of the river Turía, we reach Teixois, where there is a singular ethnographic complex (a set of hydraulic devices made up of a mallet, mill, fulling mill, grinding wheel and a small power station). From Teixois, we take a path parallel to the stream of As Mestas that leads to Esquios, returning to Taramundi along the same path along which we started the route.
