Santalla, open-air iron museum in the heart of Los Oscos

In Santalla, capital of the council of Santa Eulalia de Oscos, iron art is not only preserved: it is breathed in every corner. This peaceful and picturesque village in western Asturias boasts a centuries-old tradition linked to forging, which today is transformed into an open-air museum, unique in the Principality for its density of iron sculptures.

Where in 1975 there were more than a hundred forges working, today there are sculptures forged with the same passion and mastery that the old ironworkers put into their work. Each piece, forged during craft meetings or cultural events, tells an intimate story of the village: daily life, traditional trades, popular characters and symbols of identity that still beat strongly.

The sculptural itinerary through Santalla allows visitors to immerse themselves in the living memory of Los Oscos, while at the same time enjoying an exceptional natural and architectural environment. The wrought iron works - nine to date - make up an artistic route that is also a tribute to those who made iron their life.

A visit to Santalla is not just a stroll: it is a cultural experience, a journey into the soul of a land forged by the blow of the anvil.
