Church of Ntra. Sñra. de la Asunción of Vegadeo
It is the youngest monument in Vegadeo, inaugurated in 1854. Rectangular in plan, it has three interior naves and a chevet that connects with the main body through a tower crowned with a small pinnacle. In reality, the church represents the birth of Vegadeo as a municipal capital and is a symbol of the drive and dynamism of the mid-19th century.
Next to the Medal Park we find the Parish Church of Vegadeo, dedicated to the Virgin of the Assumption, the local patron saint, who rests in the temple from the 6th until the 16th of August, when she is returned in a holy procession to the chapel of La Cal. This church is of modern construction, as it was built in 1854, with a rectangular floor plan divided into 3 interior naves. The church is a perfect example of the importance of Vegadeo in the mid-19th century, when it became the capital of the council and experienced an important economic boom that gave the council great dynamism.
