Os Cabozos in San Tirso de Abres

The Cabozos (Cabazos) are the horreos of the westernmost part of Asturias.

Cabozos (Cabazos) are the horreos of the westernmost part of Asturias. It is a construction attached to the house where grain (wheat and corn) is ripened or the products of the slaughter are cured. They are made of wood and stone, rectangular in shape and supported on the sides by two stone walls. There are two types of Cabozos in the Council:

The Mondoñedo type Cabozo: with a single floor and closed wooden façades. It is the most common.

The Cabozo type Ribadeo: two or three floors and closed in masonry with windows on some of its sides.

There are 156 Cabozos in the Council, of which only 3 are of the Ribadeo type.
